PITTSBURGH RECALLS BEN LOVEJOY

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Ben Lovejoy from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced on Sunday.

Lovejoy, 24, leads all Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman and ranks tied for 11th in the American Hockey League with 14 points (4+10) in 24 games this season.  The second year pro also ranks first on the team and tied for seventh in the league with a plus-14 rating this season.

The native of Canaan, New Hampshire recorded 20 points (2+18) in 72 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, and added 10 points (2+8) in 23 playoff games.

Lovejoy spent three seasons at Dartmouth College, recording 54 points (11+43) in 96 games with the Big Green.  He also played one season at Boston College (2002-03), recording six assists in 22 games before transferring to Dartmouth.

Lovejoy was signed to an NHL contract by Pittsburgh on July 14, 2008.
