PENGUINS WEEKLY Monday, November 5, 2007

RECENT ACTION: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins climbed back to .500 this past weekend, posting a pair of shootout wins against the Toronto Marlies (3-2 on Friday) and the Norfolk Admirals (2-1 on Saturday). The wins raised the Penguins’ record to 5-5-0-0 on the season.

In Friday night’s action, Connor James and Kurtis McLean scored regulation goals for the Penguins, while goaltender Ty Conklin turned aside 33 shots during the first 65 minutes of play. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton netminder then stopped two of four Toronto skaters in the shootout, while McLean, Jeff Taffe, Kris Letang and Tim Brent all tallied for the Penguins.

Conklin was even better in the shootout one night later. After stopping 19 of 20 shots during regulation, the goalie snuffed seven of eight attempts to record his second win in as many nights. Alex Goligoski recorded the lone Pens’ goal in regulation, while Brent and Taffe scored in the shootout.

UPCOMING ACTION: The Penguins hit the road for their next four games, starting this Friday night, November 9, when they travel to Binghamton to take on the Senators. Game time is 7:05pm. This is the second meeting between the East Division rivals this season, after Binghamton posted a 4-2 win in Wilkes-Barre on October 27.

The following night, the Pens head to Massachusetts to take on the Springfield Falcons at 7:00pm. The game is the first meeting with the Falcons since Feb. 18, 2006, and the first Springfield became the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.
