PENGUINS SIGN COTE TO PTO

groupWILKES-BARRE, PA – WILKES-BARRE, PA –  The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed defenseman Jean-Phillipe Cote to a professional tryout contract, it was announced on Wednesday.  Cote is expected to be in the Penguins’ lineup when they take on the Hershey Bears tonight at 7:05pm.

The 26-year old from Quebec City has appeared in 335 American Hockey League games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, recording 54 points (10 goals, 44 assists) and 477 penalty minutes.  He has also suited up in eight games with the Montreal Canadiens (National Hockey League), going scoreless with four penalty minutes.

Cote was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the ninth round (265th overall) of the 200 NHL Entry Draft.
