PENS IN THE PLAYOFFS:  This is the sixth consecutive season the Penguins have made an appearance in the Calder Cup Playoffs, and the seventh time in the nine year history of the team.

The Penguins have an all-time playoff record of 47-44 in postseason competition, and have outscored their opponents 263-259.

Vs. the PHANTOMS:  The Penguins and Phantoms have faced off on three previous occasions in the AHL postseason.  Wilkes-Barre/Scranton won the first two meetings, defeating Philadelphia in six games during the 2001 Western Conference Semifinals, and downing Philadelphia in six games during the 2004 East Division Finals.

Philadelphia took the last series between the clubs, winning four of five against the Penguins in the 2005 East Division Finals.

The Penguins have an all-time playoff record of 10-9 against the Phantoms, and have been outscored 54-60.

The Penguins have posted six shutouts in playoff action during the past nine years, and three of those have come against the Phantoms.  Rich Parent recorded the first playoff shutout in team history with a 25 save, 3-0 win on April 25, 2001.  Andy Chiodo posted back-to-back blankings of the Phantoms on May 8, 2004 (3-0, 18 saves) and May 10, 2004 (2-0, 32 saves)

IN GAME THREE:  The Penguins have an all-time record of 11-5 in Game Threes, including a 5-2 mark on the road.

TWO-GAME SPLIT:  When the Penguins enter Game Three with a 1-1 series tie, they have gone on to win the series on four of five occasions (2001 Western Conference Quarterfinals vs. Syracuse; 2004 East Division Finals vs. Philadelphia; 2004 Eastern Conference Finals vs. Hartford; 2007 East Division Semifinals vs. Norfolk).  The only time the Penguins didn’t go on to win after a two-game split was in the 2001 Calder Cup Finals vs. Saint John.
