PITTSBURGH ASSIGNS THOMAS, WALLACE TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Bill Thomas to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero.

Thomas, 25, played 11 games during his latest stint with Pittsburgh , registering three points (two goals, one assist) along with two penalty minutes.  He has scored three points (two goals, one assist) in 16 games and three stints with the Penguins this season.  Thomas has played in 36 contests for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, collecting 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) along with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-three rating.

The Pittsburgh native played seven games with the Phoenix Coyotes during the 2007-08 regular season, including 15:22 of ice time on December 3rd vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He played 75 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL).  Thomas tallied 52 points (24 goals, 28 assists) along with 40 penalty minutes with the Rampage.  Thomas played in seven playoff games with San Antonio , scoring three points (one goal, two assists). 

The 6-1, 185-pound forward has 20 points (11 goals, nine assists) and 12 penalty minutes in 56 career games in the NHL with Phoenix and Pittsburgh .  He made his NHL debut during the 2005-06 season.  Thomas was originally signed by Phoenix as a free agent on March 27, 2006.

WILKES-BARRE, PA –The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Tim Wallace to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero.

Wallace appeared in three contests for Pittsburgh posting a plus-one rating during his latest stint with the Penguins.  He has appeared in 16 games, recording two assists and a plus-two rating during three stints with Pittsburgh .  He made his NHL debut Dec. 10 at New Jersey and registered his first NHL point, an assist, Dec. 18 at Atlanta .  He has 16 points (11 goals, five assists) along with 39 penalty minutes in 39 contests with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. 

The native of Anchorage , Alaska recorded 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) and 82 penalty minutes in 74 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season.  The 6-1, 206-pound forward also posted eight points (two goals, six assists) along with 21 penalty minutes in 22 playoff contests, helping the Penguins reach the Calder Cup Finals.

The 24-year old forward has played 145 games in the AHL for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, scoring 56 points (28 goals, 28 assists) along with 160 penalty minutes.  He has registered 10 points (three goals, seven assists) and 23 penalty minutes in 33 post-season appearances with the Penguins.  Wallace signed with Pittsburgh as a free agent on October 4, 2006.
