FLEURY ASSIGNED FOR CONDITIONING; STONE RETURNED TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

groupThe Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for conditioning, it was announced Sunday by General Manager Ray Shero.

Additionally, Pittsburgh has reassigned forward Ryan Stone to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Fleury, 23, has missed 28 games since suffering an ankle injury on December 6th in a game against the Calgary Flames.  He had won four consecutive starts prior to his injury posting a 1.00 goals-against-average, a .955 save percentage, and one shutout in those four victories. 

Fleury has appeared in 21 games with Pittsburgh this season, recording a 9-8-1 record with two shutouts.  He ranks fourth on Pittsburgh's all-time list with 66 career victories.

Fleury has appeared in 66 career regular season games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons), recording a 36-21-4 record with a 2.33 goals against average and five shutouts. He ranks third on the team's all-time victories list, fourth in goals against average and tied for thired in shutouts.

Fleury was the firtst overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Stone, 22, has appeared in five games with Pittsburgh during two stints this season.  He made his NHL debut on January 10th vs. Tampa Bay. 

Stone has 21 points (7+14) in 38 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season.  He was originally selected by the Penguins in the second round (32nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Draft.
